My name is Tabitha Somers
Ever feel like your brain has 27 browser tabs open—and one of them is playing music, but you can’t find which one? You’re not alone! Therapy can help close a few tabs—and maybe even make peace with the rest.
I’m Tabitha, and I believe everyone has the potential to reach their goals, even if the path to get there looks nothing like they imagined. My role isn’t to “fix” you—it’s to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s complexities, offering empathy, guidance, and unconditional positive regard in a space where you can be fully yourself. My style is warm, laid-back, and often sprinkled with humor. I aim to create a space where you feel uncensored and empowered to explore your experiences and emotions at your own pace.
My educational background includes bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Concord University, a master’s in Human Services Counseling (with an emphasis in Addiction Treatment) from Liberty University, and a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. I’m also a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) and a Resident in Counseling in the state of Virginia. Over the past six years, I’ve supported clients navigating a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, addiction, mood and personality disorders, domestic violence, relationship issues, and trauma of various kinds.
My therapeutic approach is person-centered and strengths-based. I tailor each treatment plan to the unique needs of the individual, drawing from modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). At the foundation of my work is the scripture Galatians 6:2: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” I’m deeply passionate about walking with people through life’s heaviness—because we were never meant to carry it alone.
If you’re ready to begin the path to peace, I’d be honored to be part of it.
