My name is Jacob Somers
Relationships and family are some of the most meaningful — and most challenging — parts of being human. I specialize in working with couples and families, and what draws me to this work is simple: most people aren't struggling because something is wrong with them. They're struggling because life is hard, and doing it in close relationship with other people makes it even harder.
I work with couples navigating disconnection, conflict, or major life transitions, and with families trying to stay close through the kind of strain that can quietly pull people apart. Anxiety, depression, communication breakdowns, trauma — whatever's making things feel heavy, my goal is to help you find solid ground again, together. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. I'm not here to sit back while you talk in circles. We'll look honestly at what's happening, figure out what's underneath it, and build real tools for handling it differently. People often tell me they leave sessions feeling like something actually shifted — not just processed.
If you're considering therapy for yourself, your relationship, or your family, I'd love to connect and see if we're a good fit. You don't have to have it all figured out before you reach out.

I accept most major insurance plans, including Medicaid and Commercial plans of Aetna, Anthem, Carelon, Sentara, and Humana.
